Stanton Orchards Founder Earl Stanton Made it a Family Business

With an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to make the cherry business a family involvement project, Earl Stanton bought this choice property on a high bluff overlooking Lake Michigan in 1960. By 1978 when this picture was taken, Earl would train his grandkids (two shown here, Todd, left, and Curt right, with friend Mark Kanaval) every summer on the gritty and fine points of running a cherry farm and cherry business. He died the next year in 1979, and his son Terry took over the business of growing and shipping fresh cherries to grocers throughout the midwest. Today, Earl's entrepreneural drive has been transformed by his grandson Todd Stanton who has developed a tart cherry concentrate product from the farm's tart Montmorency cherries. It is sold country-wide on Amazon, Walmart, and in top healthy grocers coast-to-coast including Whole Foods, NaturalGrocers and many more. Earl Stanton would be proud and amazed. Four Generations of Stanton Family Growers

For 60 years in Leelanau, Michigan, four generations of Stanton Orchard's family farm have been growing Montmorency tart cherries in the heart of Cherry Country. In 2010, Todd Stanton began producing and marketing tart cherry concentrate. The Stanton Family Gathers at Harvest Time

Over the past 60+ years Stanton Orchards' four generations have come together at harvest time to celebrate the farm's annual bounty including Montmorency tart cherries. Family members included Founder Earl Stanton and his wife Gladys, his sons Terry and Brent, Terry's wife Donna (all deceased), his grandchildren Karen, Curt, Todd, and Greg, and his great grandchildren. Harvest is still a joyous event capped off with an outdoor picnic of family, friends, and also team members and suppliers who keep the farm running smoothly and economically. Thank you all!
